LED hardware tool on new Proliant servers

On the new series of Proliant servers (2006Q3 +) HP re-invented a display on the front pane of the server.

A similar tool existed on the proliant 3000 and 5000 servers (insight display). The new tool uses leds to show the status of the hardware components within the server.

Great solution. Question of 1000 points: why no HDD status on this display? Because the disks are visible on the front of the server... so this info would be overkill.
This solution also exists on the new DL360. The display is hidden. It clicks open if you push a little button on the front panel of the server.

C-class blades - power in a box

A few moths ago HP released the new generation of Blade servers, the C-class...
I have to say that this new technology surprised me. I mean, it has been a while that HP released a new technology platform that proofs to be stable from the start.

So what's so great about it?
Wel, for starters, the management of the enclosures (and the options installed) is done by OA (onboard administrator). No more configuration shit whit web-based software tools and communication protocols, just plug in a network cable and go...
You can also install the OA redundant.

The interface options at the back of the enclosure are great... modularity all the way. But be careful. There are some rules to follow... Every position in a blade server points to a specific position on the back-end of the enclosure.
So a NIC in mezzanine 1 in one of the server, means that mezzanine 1 on every blade is reserved for a NIC card... Right?

Anyway, C-class blades: go for it... More info on this new technology will follow.
